Building a Christ-centered community in Alexandra through genuine love and faith.
Lesedi Church, founded in response to the challenging conditions faced by the residents of Alexandra, also known as “dark city,” aims to bring light and hope to the community. Derived from the word for “light,” Lesedi embodies the belief that God’s light can shine even in the darkest of places. Led by Pastor Bafana Tshabalala of Rosebank Union Church, Lesedi Community Church is a beacon of the Gospel, shining the glory of Christ into Alexandra and its outskirts. With a vision to transform lives through the power of the Gospel of Jesus, Lesedi Church welcomes all to join in worship, fellowship, and the journey of spreading light in the midst of darkness.
What To Expect
In total, a Lesedi Church service is about 90 minutes in length. Services begin with the Lesedi Church band leading the church in music – song lyrics are displayed on the screens so you can sing along and/or engage with worship however you feel most comfortable. We try to sing a good mix of traditional songs as well as more modern contemporary worship songs in English and other common South African languages. After the music portion of service is complete, one of our pastors will share a Bible-based, encouraging and hope-filled message about Jesus.

After the service we serve tea & coffee and enjoy a time of fellowship together.
